Andover Wrestling Club

Hello Wrestling Family!  The 2023-2024 season is screaming upon us!  If your son or daughter is at the top of the age bracket this year, look forward to cranking out those confidence building wins.  If they’re at the bottom….well…. just remember, iron sharpens iron! Ha!

Time flies when you’re having fun.  This year will mark 14 years I’ve had the privilege and honor of coaching youth sports across the Wichita metro area.  9 years specific to wrestling and 8 of those right here with the amazing Andover Wrestling Club.  What a journey!  I’ve been fortunate to have coached kids that have gone on to do great things at both Jaguar and Trojan High schools.  My fellow coaches and I have witnessed our first folkstyle state champion, 4 state runner ups, countless national placers, and champions.  Equally as important, that kid that FINALLY got their first win after a season of coming up short.  There’s no better teacher than a wrestling match.

I spent 3 years coaching novice.  Novice coaches, if I don’t thank you daily, then I’m not thanking you enough!  I can’t stress how critical these years are for kids (and parents).  Not just for learning the sport, but for learning about loss, hard work, discipline (being disciplined!), and team/family unity through the good times and bad. 

I’m very proud of what others built before me, and where we stand today.  I am confident the best days of our club are ahead of us with who all will take over when I’m gone!  We’re not just a club, we’re a family.  A family with brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandmas, Jaguars and Trojans.

Sunrise, sunset.  This year is going to be the best one yet!  I look forward to all the blood, sweat, tears, good times and bad.  You just can’t beat it.  I am equally as excited to be a spectator in the stands while my son and fellow Andover Wrestling Club kids tear through high school seasons!

I’m always a call or text away if you need something.  This has been my life’s mission thus far.  Thank you for all the love and support that you’ve shown my family over the years!  Fellow coaches and board members, you are the salt of the earth.  Thank you for all you do.
